We’re proud of our safe workouts.
While exercise confers dramatic health benefits, done improperly, it can cause mild to serious neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee and other injuries.
The FMS helps you stay injury-free
Ultimate U’s certified personal trainers utilize the comprehensive Functional Movement Screen (FMS) to detect musculoskeletal imbalances before they become a problem.
The FMS is a tool for identifying limitations and imbalances in movement patterns that signal emerging or present musculoskeletal problems. If left uncorrected, these movement errors could develop into more serious issues or injuries over time.
Based on sound science and research, the results of the FMS help your UU personal trainer design the best exercise program for your body. The FMS reveals the types of movements your personal trainer can incorporate into your training program to help restore healthy movement patterns. It also signals which movements are best avoided to prevent worsening of limitations.
DEVELOPED BY TOP EXPERTS
The FMS was developed by exercise science and physical therapy researchers and clinicians, Dr. Lee Burton, PhD, ATC, CSCS and Gray Cook, MSPT, OCS, CSCS. Their goal was to facilitate better communication between physical rehabilitation professionals and athletic and personal trainers.
THE FMS REVEALS YOUR BEST UU TEAM
The FMS results also guide us in the formation of your ideal team of professionals. Certain issues are best addressed by one of our rehabilitation professionals–our chiropractor and/or physical therapists–either before, or in tandem with personal training. No one wants to jump the hurdle of starting an exercise regimen, only to be sidelined by injuries down the road. By addressing and correcting underlying issues from the start, you’re more likely to avoid injuries that would otherwise thwart your progress. We think that’s pretty awesome!
