Krista’s story:
Zoe (UU CEO) spoke to one of my first exercise science classes and talked about the U with so much pride and enthusiasm and I just knew right then that I HAD to do my 10 week internship there my senior year. I called, then trekked out to the U, talked to Troy (UU President) for about 2.5 hours and was welcomed with open arms as their newest intern. After the completion of my internship I learned a lot about how the U worked (how they approached health, the kindness they have towards everyone who walks in the door, etc.) and loved every minute of it. I passed my certification test with flying colors and was thankfully hired be part of this awesome Ultimate U team.

I absolutely love what I do. I REALLY love to get people excited about exercising for the very first time and/or bring that excitement back to those who have seemed to lost it along the way. Whether this means one has had a bad experience with another personal trainer, they hurt themselves doing some crazy workout video, or exercise just has never been viewed as fun. I enjoy showing folks that exercise does not have to be drudgery, pain, and hours and hours of pounding ground. It’s OK to laugh while you exercise, trust me. 🙂
For the most part I have always been very active, I grew up playing softball (I was the catcher on the Division I State Championship Team my senior year in high school) and picked up tennis my Freshman year of High School. When I first started college I knew I wanted to help people but I just didn’t know what that exactly meant to me. When my counselor mentioned exercise science and what I could do with that I was like “BINGO!”. It was the perfect fit for me.
I like working with all kinds of individuals and would describe my training style as deceivingly tough. I may look nice on the outside but I definitely know how to give a great, sweat filled workout! I like to incorporate a full body strength training workout that involves cardiovascular activities along the way. Each session is a surprise to my clients. They never know what they are going to get when they come through those gym doors.
Additionally, I lead a walking group that meets at the Rusty Bucket at 8:30AM every Saturday (yes, even in the winter). We call ourselves “The Happy Feet” and have been meeting for about 3 years. I love riding my bike (when the weather is good) and have been part of Pelotonia for the past three years. This event has truly changed my life. I love to travel anywhere and everywhere. — just ask Troy 🙂 Someday I would like to go back to school to get my Masters in Exercise Physiology.
