Studies show that regular yoga practice makes life better in lots of ways.
Want to lose weight? One New Zealand study showed that women who followed a program of yoga and meditation lost weight and kept it off, while those who focused purely on exercise and nutrition had not. The ‘relaxed’ women were also generally happier and healthier at the end of the study.
Want more energy, better mood or sleep? Another recent study showed regular yoga practice resulted in “significant improvements in…sleep; reduced fatigue, depression, anxiety, stress, tension, and anger; and boosted general well-being, vitality, and function in physical, emotional, and social roles.”
We think that’s awesome, which is why we include Monday night yoga free with membership. We hope you’ll make this weight loss enhancing, mood and energy booster a regular part of your workout regimen.
Using your breath as the guide, you’ll be lead through a series of postures that build strength, increase flexibility, and help quiet the mind. A typical class will start with bringing awareness to your body and setting an intention. Next, we’ll move through moderate paced standing sequences, slowing down with seated stretches, and always ending in savasana- a total release of effort and tension in the body. You can expect to leave class feeling centered and ready for the rest of your week!
This class is most appropriate for beginner to intermediate yoga students. If it’s your first time, please come a few minutes early so the instructor can orient you.
